This program celebrates composers whose lives and music intersected with Los Angeles, a city shaped by artistic migration and reinvention. Enesco, Krenek, and Rachmaninoff bring distinctive European voices to Southern California’s musical life, while Glinka and Tchaikovsky deepen the program’s Russian lyricism. Vocal works and viola transcriptions lead to Rachmaninoff’s sweeping Sonata, revealing the viola as both singer and storyteller.
